The views are simply stunning. Get a lake view room, the extra cost is well worth it. Staff are superb and the hotel has bags of charm. We will be returning without doubt.
Location wise the lake view from our balcony was fantastic. Friendly staff. Gourmet meals did not disappoint. The Mrs was fully satasfied by her spa treatment. Very Romantic weekend.
The view was the only thing we really enjoyed.
The Tavern only had the same menu for lunch and evening meal which was limiting. The room was ok but not worth the £210 per night stay. Overall the hotel is a little tired and we did not experience the luxury the website promoted.
The Lake and surroundings, the age of the building and the history of it.
Rooms tired and old, although in keeping were quite scruffy and uncomfortable. Price must be based on location and views as rooms not worth the price.
A revelation, we booked as it was close to a recording studio I was using and I thought the spa facility would be good for my wife, the friendly staff, character full hotel, fantastic food and stunning views across the lake mean we will now return. In the middle of nowhere with no mobile signal you have no choice but to relax.
Additional charge for hotel residents to use the spa facility
Friendly staff in restaurant and bars The views are amazing. We had a lake view. Next time we will have a room with a balcony if we can afford it! Though the hotel was full, it was always peaceful The food was exceptional, ate I the restaurant both evenings, breakfast also very high standard Small but perfect spa One of the best massages I have had. The masseur was very professional and listened to my needs. Felt great afterwards
Bing a lover of really good freshly brewed coffee, I was very disappointed that the main hotel did not have a decent machine, only filter coffee seemed to be available. However on the second day, we discovered that Tavern bar had one. Put one in the main bar as well.
Good quality food, polite staff and great location.
Overpriced menu, hotel too warm in restaurant and bedroom. Bedroom cramped and not particularly clean. Bathroom dated and no bath.
The old world charm The picturesque setting/location The very helpful staff
The food and service in the restaurant was excellent. My wife had a treatment in the spa and found it to be really good and very relaxing.
We had a standard room and were disappointed with the size of the bedroom. However, not enough to spoil our stay which overall was most enjoyable.
My initial impression was of a classic country hotel with splendid views and a warm friendly atmosphere. Upon arrival we were greeted by friendly, helpful staff, the room was cosy, luxurious and full of character. The afternoon was spent relaxing on the veranda outside the tavern with stunning views of the lake below and the Berwyn mountains. Nothing was too much trouble for the bar staff who went to get a restaurant menu for us to compare to the tavern menu so we could make an informed choice of where to eat that evening! The evening meal was top notch with local lamb and beef cooked to perfection accompanied by bottle of Malbec. After dinner, we watched the most spectacular sunset complete with light rain to make a stunning evening unforgettable. Breakfast was again superb with attentative staff giving five star service. Checkout was painless and i will definetely be returning. This standard of service is regrettably very rare in th UK so well done everyone!
All the public rooms have views of the lake and were comfortable and quiet. Barman was extremely helpful. Staff at the Tower Tavern were all very friendly. Grounds and surrounding area were pleasant.
Lake side view room was quite small. Our garden view room was much more spacious and with comfortable chairs. Reception staff were efficient but not very welcoming. Only place to get wifi was in the Drawing Room and the Tower Tavern.
I visited many years ago and enjoyed the experience. The location is fantastic and we were blessed with glorious weather. The room was wonderful with views over the lake and the whole experience from the Clay pgeon shooting to the massage in the spa was terrrific. I will return.
Although I enjoyed it, I knew how isolated it was- but it was worth it.
Being able to take our dogs with us. beautiful location and superb food combined with friendly service.
The heavily perfumed atmosphere in the Spa made me feel quite breathless.
The view over the lake from our bedroom was magical even though the weather was partly dull and wet, however we still enjoyed ourselves. There were lovely walks around the Dam and an interesting sculpture park. If you want a peaceful holiday, this is the place to be.
I think it is probably time for a splash of paint in most areas to revitalise the hotel.
1) Location( Nice view). 2) Tidy. 3) Stylish. 4) Romantic&Relax.
